Jaundice

Jaundice is an extremely common condition in newborns.  Although it frequently resolves without any intervention, the risk of kernicterus from untreated severe hyperbilirubinemia is real.   Identifying which infants need further evaluation and/or treatment can be difficult, but it's the key to appropriate management.
